The School

SCMS Group in Cochin, one of the leading professional educational groups in India providing world-class educational facilities in areas like business management, engineering, computer application, public relations, advertising, journalism, IELTS, CGFNS, NCLEX etc. has now diversified into Hotel Management and Catering Technology.

SCMS School of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Cochin is the new institution established by the group for the purpose.

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has identified SCMS School of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Cochin to partner with the Ministry to conduct training programmes under the capacity building service providers scheme (Hospitality) of the Ministry.

Ministry of Tourism, Government of India Partnership with SCMS  

Tourism is booming worldwide. It has emerged as one of the major growth sectors of the Indian economy. However, the country is struggling hard to achieve its targeted growth. The main road blocks are natural calamities, man-made disasters and lack of infrastructures. While the government is making all out efforts to improve the infrastructure it must be remembered that the Government alone cannot do everything in this matter. Private participation is essential for speedy implementation of the proposed plans.

In these circumstances, the Ministry of Tourism has taken a policy to identify a quality educational institution in the autonomous sector in each State for conducting training programmes in partnership with the Ministry, which will enable youngsters to get employment under  various categories in the hospitality industry. It has been done to meet  the growing demand for qualified people to take up such jobs, where demand is seen exceeding supply. It is in this context that the Government has selected SCMS School of Hotel Management and Catering Technology as a nodal centre for running the courses in Kerala. It is a matter of profound pride for SCMS to have been selected by the Government of India lo associate with them.

Certificate Courses

Initially, two courses of six months' duration are planned for the benefit of the unemployed youth in our State. They are Cookery and as Stewardship. Other courses on Bakery & Confectionery, Chamber Maid/Boy, Indian Tandoori Food, Laundry Services, Indian. Sweets etc. will be started in due course.

The selected candidates' tuition fee will be paid by the Ministry of Tourism for this course.  Training will be conducted on the basis of the syllabus prepared by National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Those who complete the course successfully will be awarded certificates by NCHMCT.
