SCMS Group Begins

The journey started with the establishment of the School of Communication and Management Studies, focusing initially on correspondence courses in Mass Communication and Journalism. This marked the beginning of the SCMS Group, which has since evolved into a major brand in education.

1990

Liberalization of the Indian economy
SCMS Group

Expansion in the Era of Liberalization

Adapting to Economic Changes, the SCMS Group, with its keen foresight, expanded into management education, aligning with the liberalization of the Indian economy in the 1990s. This period marked significant growth and diversification for the group.

2001

Engineering education for private
self-financing

Diversification into Engineering and Technology

Broadening Educational Horizons: The year 2001 saw the opening up of engineering education for the private self-financing sector in Kerala. The SCMS Group diversified into Technology, Biotechnology, Computer Applications, Architecture, Polytechnics, Commerce and Economics, establishing about a dozen institutions across different campuses.

Fostering Architectural Excellence: The SCMS School of Architecture was established in 2014 by the Prathap Foundation for Education and Training at the Vidyanagar Campus in Karukutty. It has since achieved notable success in education, with modern infrastructure and a dedicated faculty committed to shaping socially responsible architects.

Establishing SCMS School of Architecture

Genesis

In 1976, the Prathap Foundation for Education and Training embarked on an educational odyssey by establishing its first academic institution, the School of Communication and Management Studies (SCMS). Over the years, SCMS soared to prominence as a top-tier business school, eventually evolving into the SCMS Cochin School of Business in 2013. Building on this legacy, the Foundation expanded its academic repertoire, creating institutions dedicated to professional education in diverse fields such as engineering, technology, management, architecture, hospitality, animation, biotech research and socio-economic research, along with specialized areas like Polytechnics. Throughout its journey, the Foundation has steadfastly adhered to its core principles of quality and excellence, shaping it into a paragon of educational distinction.

Management

Promoters of SCMS Group are academicians with years of experience running professional institutions of excellence in management and technology. A long march to a glorious future was flagged off in 1976 with the establishment of the Prathap Foundation for Education and Training by Dr.G.P.C. Nayar at Kochi.
Dr. Nayar, who held top management positions with leading global corporate houses, wished to impart quality education at affordable costs to striving youngsters in India.

The dream came true the same year with the establishment of the humble management institution the School of Communication and Management Studies (SCMS). Sharp focus on quality education soon gave an edge to the institution. SCMS grew to become a center of excellence for management and communication studies in a very short span of time. Over the years, the management of SCMS Group under the visionary leadership of Dr.G.P.C. Nayar, has established various institutions of excellence and national repute to offer professional education in technology and management streams.
